Koch Chemie's new Headlight Polish Set gives yellowed, dull headlights a new look. With the perfectly coordinated polishes and pads, an optimal surface is created in just two steps. The innovative Headlight Polish 1 machine polish effectively removes scratches and sanding from grit size P1000, so that weathered acrylic headlights can be quickly refurbished. Headlight Polish 2 subsequently creates a high-gloss surface on the already pre-treated headlights. The carnauba waxes contained in the product seal the headlights at the same time. This is an economical approach, as it eliminates the need for an additional application of a sealing component. Working with the Thermo Pad allows good control over the temperature development of the material, as the colour change of the pad serves as an indicator due to its thermochromic property. A total of 50 headlights can be processed with the Headlight Polish Set.
Fields of application: PMMA headlights on cars, commercial vehicles, motorbikes, boats, etc.
At a glance:
-The innovative Headlight Polish 1 machine polish effectively removes scratches and sanding from grit size P1000 upwards.
-Headlight Polish 2 subsequently creates a high-gloss surface on the already pre-treated headlights.
Application:
-Clean the headlight before starting and then mask off the edge areas to the bonnet, wings, radiator grille and bumper.
-Depending on the weathering, work the headlight surface with the sandpaper using a hand block or an eccentric polishing machine. If the headlights are very yellowed, use 1,000 grit sandpaper (coarse grit) first. Then repeat this step with 2,000 (medium grit) and 4,000 (low grit) sandpaper until an evenly sanded surface is achieved. If the headlights are only slightly matt, sanding can be skipped.
-Remove the sanding with Headlight Polish 1 and the Heavy Cut Pad or the Lambskin Pad. We recommend using a rotary polishing machine and applying the sanding polish at medium speed and medium pressure in a crosswise motion.
-Polish the surface to a high gloss with Headlight Polish 2 and the Thermo Pad. We recommend using a rotary polisher and applying the high gloss polish at medium speed and medium pressure in a cross-wise motion.
Important notes:
-Check for suitability and compatibility before use.
-Do not wash the vehicle in the sun
-Consider product descriptions
-Wash microfibre only with a microfibre detergent, up to 60 degrees at the most.
Caution: Acrylic glass headlights are made of transparent thermoplastic, which is sensitive to temperature. When sanding and polishing, the temperature of the headlight surface must not rise above 40°C - 45°C. The Thermo Pad changes colour from orange to yellow at a temperature of 45°C, so that the colour change serves as an indicator. The colour change is caused by the thermochromic property of the colour pigments in the pad. This process is reversible, i.e. the pad returns to its original colour as soon as the temperature drops again.
